btw I don't know if you mean to follow up on my comment, º®u¤uµ{®v is Principal Engineer, it's kind of like the team lead, supervisory/managerial engineer of projects. Chief Engineer is a commander. |

In the US, the salary of various professions in government agencies are generally lower than equivalent positions in the private sectors. Gov't employees are also not eligible for bonus, and have little opportunities for fast track advancements. However, the jobs are still enticing to many as the jobs are relatively relaxed, low stress, secured, or even flexible. Benefits are actually a huge perk - employees get more vacation days and paid holidays, decent inflationary raises/adjustments, free insurance and very good pension package which they would enjoy upon retirements. |

This is similar to Hong Kong. Private companies will offer especially high salary/salary+bonus for the elites. On the other hand, government jobs are generally relaxing, the salary level is to an extent attractive, but not enough for elites. |
