Let me try
Conditions 1 Exam next week 2 anyday next week not known If on saturday, then it can be known on the friday therefore does not imply to condition 2 that the day cannot be known If on friday, then there cannot be exam mon to thursday If on thursday it cannot be monday to wednesday if on wednesday it cannot be monday to tuesday if on monday there is no assumption to be made. Unless there is school on sunday and there was no exam. But how do you infer that exam is not on monday assuming no exams on sunday. But it is based on the assumption that it is a known fact that monday on the start of next week. This depends then on whether sunday is seen as the start of the next week or end of the week. Therefore if sunday is taken as the start of next week then it obviously cannot be accounted for based on the assumption that there is exam on a sunday. If sunday is interpreted as the end of the week then it is not possible for exam to be on that day. |

We assume that Sunday is a holiday, so no test could be taken on Sunday. -------------------- ......

so therefore to satisfy both conditions of exam next week and that the day could not be known would be a monday. Because on that saturday when the class was told that there is an exam the next week it could be anyday mon to sat. it is only after the monday that any hypothesis can be formed.
Say 1 2 3 4 5 6 1 = mon 2 = tues etc if it is not day 1, then the exam must be on 2 3 4 5 6 but it must be after 1 that it could be 2 3 4 5 6 therefore unless it is already known that 1 is not exam day there is no way of guessing whether exam is on 2 3 4 5 or 6 but since the day cannot be known, the conclusion is that there will definitely be exam the next week  |

1 is not given as a precondition, so one cannot take it for granted before proving it. The student does not need to---and he did not---take it for granted when doing his reasoning. Your statment only implies that 1 is not a precondition. But that alone, is not sufficient to prove "There is no way of guessing whether exam is on 2 3 4 5 or 6".
That is not a conclusion, that is a precondition. -------------------- ......

ok fine the precondition is that there will be exam the next week
so if i went further not 2 then must be 3 4 5 6 but not 5 implies definitely 6 because 5 is based on the condition of 1' n 2' n 3' n 4' therefore the date is known if also not 5. therefore it must be before 6 that means 1 to 5 leaving 1 2 3 4 5 if not on 4 then it must be 5 violation of condition. If the reasoning goes on, down to 2' then it must be 1 and therefore violation of condition 2 1' = 2U3U4U5U6 2' = 3U4U5U6 3' = 4U5U6 4' = 5U6 and 5'=6 but because 5' = 6 it must be between 1 to 5 and the events are mutually exclusive... and so the above cannot be accepted but what if the events are viewed as continuous rather than discrete? |

I don't see it, how could you get the conclusion "the above cannot be accepted" from something like "it must be between 1 to 5 and the events are mutually exclusive"?

If not day 1 it must be day 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 if not day 2 it must be day 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 if not day 3 it must be day 4 or 5 or 6 if not day 4 it must be day 5 or 6 But if not day 5 it must be day 6 therefore the day of exam must be between days 1 and up to including day 5 as a result it must be between day 1 to 5 event 1 = exam on day 1 etc So if exam was day 1 then it cannot be any other day must be bad wording... This is not right. You should say something like if not day 2 it must be day 1 or 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 or if not day 1 nor 2 it must be day 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 not if not day 2 it must be day 3 or 4 or 5 or 6
You don't need all those "if......it must be" to get this conclusion. We simply know that there is only one test in the coming week so if the test is on any specific day, it cannot be "also" on a day other than that specific day. And as far as I can see, this conclusion has nothing to do in solving the paradox. -------------------- ......

在星期六考試是違反「一定會考試」還是「學生不能在前一晚預知考試」，任何智力正常的人都知道，別跟我抬槓。

昨天睡前突然想到的，雖然覺得一定會被駁倒(爆)
↑這句話我覺得應該解讀成 明確知道禮拜六考的條件是明確知道禮拜一到五都不考 因為禮拜五晚一定知道禮拜一到五有考沒考了，所以如果能確定禮拜一到五都不考，就一定能確定禮拜六會考，那這樣就會違反規則了 但是在禮拜四晚時，有兩個狀況 禮拜五不考，禮拜六考 禮拜五考，禮拜六不考 這時候如果沒辦法確定禮拜五一定不考，那就不能把「如果禮拜一到五都不考，則禮拜六考會事先得知，事先得知則違反規則，所以會在禮拜一到五考」這串推論結果拿來用才對 =================個人感想分隔線========================= 就我所知，那些相當聰明的人不太會被時間觀念束縛，所以顯得相當睿智 但是這個題目的陷阱就是設在時間觀念上頭，像我這樣子不甚聰明睿智、被時間觀念束縛的普通人反而不會掉進這個陷阱內 最後我覺得元直你是不是被題目所附加的推論誤導啦(爆) -------------------- 擔心圖片外流，簽名當改為遷名檔QQ

我早就說過，你怎樣「認為」根本不是問題，問題是不能這樣---你說A然後我用B來駁，然後你又說一遍A然後我又用B來駁，然後你再重複一遍A我再重複B來駁......
這樣子「合謀灌水」在很多論壇是會被扔雞蛋的呀。幸好(或者是不幸？)HKSAN連扔雞蛋的人都快沒了。 -------------------- ......
