Hua Xiaoqing was born to a rich family and had been spoilt by her
grandfather. Even her father, the rich businessman Hua Lianren,
could hardly protest.
Hua Xiaoqing had been in love with an accounting clerk He Jianqun for long and they were about to marry. One day, Hua Xiaoqing arranged He to meet her grandfather in a park. Yet the dull-witted He nearly spoilt the meeting. Moments later when they saw someone trying to assault a girl nearby, He stepped in and condemned that person who then hurried away. Hua's grandfather appreciated his courage and integrity very much and promised to help with their marriage. Hua Lianren thought He was too poor to marry his daughter and rejected He's proposal. Then Hua Xiaoqing sought help from her grandfather and finally Hua Lianren yielded. Soon He's father came from Macau to Hong Kong to discuss with Hua Lianren the arrangements of their children's marriage. However, Hua Lianren mistook He's father as the tailor. Feeling insulted and disrespected, He's father withdrew his son's proposal. Again, Hua Xiaoqing asked her grandfather to persuade He's father and the arrangements went on. |

On the wedding day dozens of guests arrived at the hall. Hua
Xiaoqing's cousin Feifei was also a spoilt child and dragged He
out of the wedding hall, making him accompany her to restaurants
and nightclubs. Hua Xiaoqing was so angry and embarrassed that she
went searching for He with her grandfather. Although they finally
managed to get He back, Hua Xiaoqing believed he was deliberately
fooling her around and slapped him in the face. He thought Hua
Xiaoqing was such an unreasonable girl that he withdrew the proposal
and returned to Macau in anger. Hua Xiaoqing's grandfather then
became the matchmaker and persuaded them to tie the knots again.
Unfortunately on the wedding day, He and Hua Xiaoqing's parents disputed over the seating of their guests and fought between themselves. To avoid all these chaos, the grandfather finally led them to another room where he could quietly witness their vows for each other.
