To protest against arranged marriage in the hometown, poor girl Wang Yue'e came
to Hong Kong alone to earn her own living. Here she met A Fu, the driver of a rich businessman Tao Wanshan, and gradually fell in love with him.
One day upon receiving the news that her mother had been seriously ill, Wang hurried back to Macau to see her. However, it was part of her parents' plot to ask her back to marry. Then Wang wasted no time to flee. On the ferry Wang met a rich young man Wei Wenguang, who was heading for Hong Kong to marry Tao Daili, the spoilt daughter of Tao Wanshan. With his help Wang managed to escape and was led to Wei's resort in the countryside.

 As Wang left home in a hurry she did not bring any clothes with her. Thus she had to wear Tao's clothes. Wei told Wang to leave as early as she could and asked the housekeeper Old Wang to look after her. Then Wei left the house to see Tao. |

As Tao saw Wei she asked him to accompany her to the resort to see the set-up
for the wedding. Wei had no choice but agreed.
As Wei and Tao arrived at the resort Wang had had a bath and was doing some cleaning on the mezzanine floor. Hearing the noise she made, Wei was so frightened that he tried his best to hide the truth. After some time Wei managed to find Wang and asked her to hide in the mezzanine floor before she could seize an opportunity to sneak out. Soon it was Wei and Tao's wedding day. After the ceremony they returned to the resort with a lot of friends for celebration. Wang had wanted to escape in the crowd but was found by Wei. Seeing that Wei was talking to Wang Tao was so angry that she asked Wei where Wang had come from. Wei did not utter a word but Old Wang told her that Wang was the girl whom Wei brought with him from Macau. Tao was so outrageous that she took off and threw the wedding ring at Wei and went away. In fact Wei had already had a girlfriend Chen Deshu in Macau, but he had to marry Tao instead given his parents' orders. With the encouragement of Wang, he returned to marry Chen. Meanwhile, Wang had also gained the understanding of her father and married A Fu.
