This was an adaptation of a novel by Yang Tiancheng. Poor girl Ye Fengzhu did not have any money for her mother's funeral, therefore she offered to serve as a temporary wife to someone who could afford two thousand dollars. Recently abandoned by his lover, Li Wenqing was left to think that women were all disloyal to love. He then avenged on Ye by renting her for two months. As days passed by, Ye found herself in love with Li, but she never knew what Li thought. One day, Ye asked jokingly if Li would marry her, but Li refused. Saddened and disappointed, Ye left without a word when the contract expired and became a songstress in a nightclub. Li did not recognise how much he loved her until Ye had left. He tried his best to look for Ye but in vain. Later, a friend Wang Xianglin told him that Ye worked in a nightclub and he went to confess how deep his love was. However, Ye mistook his confession, thinking that he was just fooling her. Regretted and heart-broken, Li indulged in drinking. Days later, he was drunk when driving and got seriously injured in an accident. Ye rushed to the hospital to see him. They held each other tightly and vowed never to part again.
