Dr Liang Guangji firmly believed that doctors and nurses should devote their lives to serve the poor and disadvantaged, so much so that marriage and family should be out of their minds. He went so far to forbid all doctors and nurses in his hospital to date and get married. Anyone who failed to comply would be dismissed. All doctors and nurses were extremely discontented and began to look for ways of rebellion. A bank teller Wu fell in love with one of the nurses Zhu Shunhua, so much so that he waited for her everyday at the bus stop, hoping that he could get on the same bus and sit next to her. He even dreamed of his sweetheart in the costumes of Carmen, Lin Daiyu and a shepherd girl, and thus he could hardly concentrate on his work. His brother-in-law Ding Kantang then wrote to his friend Dr Kong Rende, who worked in Dr Liang's hospital, and asked if he could be the matchmaker. Meanwhile, Wu's colleagues had also fallen in love with three other nurses in Dr Liang's hospital. Unfortunately, their dates were always interrupted by Dr Liang. Furious to see that his nurses were trying to hide their love affairs, Dr Liang ordered the nurses, including Zhu Shunhua, to move into the staff dormitories. Wu and his colleagues were so eager to see their sweethearts and determined to disguise themselves as patients. But Dr Liang discovered their plot and made them suffer from unbearably tough treatments. Wu and his colleagues became so desperate that they started destroying the medical equipment in the hospital, causing a huge nuisance. Dr Kong then persuaded Dr Liang to lift his unreasonable ban and finally succeeded. Wu and Zhu and their colleagues then became joyful lovers.
